From: Xiaopang

I assume that no one else is going to post here anymore, so I think that this will be the last post in this URL.

Sorry to tell everyone that Team[Hongjing] is going to be disband due to some problems occuring here and there. No worries, it's not the quarreling of teammates or what, it's just some problem.

Anyway, just a notice that I will leave this blog here as it's one of the memories that we had together, but I will still be using the tagboard in other blog, so don't be shocked when you see the tagboard is still alive.

With this, I ended my speech.

Take care everyone.

Five (5) lessons to make you think about the way we treat people.

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During my second month of college, our professor
gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student
and had breezed through the questions until I read
the last one:

'What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?'

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the
cleaning woman several times. She was tall,
dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question
blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if
the last question would count toward our quiz grade.

'Absolutely,' said the professor. 'In your careers,
you will meet many people. All are significant. They
deserve your attention and care, even if all you do
is smile and say 'hello.'

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her
name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at 11:3 0 p.m., an older African American
woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway
trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had
broken down and she desperately needed a ride.
Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.
A young white man stopped to help her, generally
unheard of in those conflict-filled 60s.. The man
took her to safety, helped her get assistance and
put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his
address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a
knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a
giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A
special note was attached..

It read:
'Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway
the other night. The rain drenched not only my
clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.
Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying
husband's bedside just before he passed away.. God
bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving
others.'

Sincerely, Mrs. Nat King Cole.

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less,
a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and
sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him..

'How much is an ice cream sundae?' he asked.

'Fifty cents,' replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and
studied the coins in it.

'Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?' he inquired.

By now more people were waiting for a table and the
waitress was growing impatient.

'Thirty-five cents,' she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins.

'I'll have the plain ice cream,' he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on
the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice
cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress
came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the
table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish,
were two nickels and five pennies..

You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had
to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path.

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a
roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if
anyone would remove the huge rock Some of the
king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by
and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the
King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did
anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of
vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the
peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the
stone to the side of the road. After much pushing
and straining, he finally succeeded. After the
peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed
a purse lying in the road where the boulder had
been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note
from the King indicating that the gold was for the
person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The
peasant learned what many of us never understand!

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a
hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who
was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only
chance of recovery appeared to be a blood
transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had
miraculously survived the same disease and had
developed the antibodies needed to combat the
illness.. The doctor explained the situation to her
little brother, and asked the little boy if he would
be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a
deep breath and saying, 'Yes I'll do it if it will
save her.' As the transfusion progressed, he lay in
bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did,
seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his
face grew pale and his smile faded.

He looked up at the doctor and asked with a
trembling voice, 'Will I start to die right away'.

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the
doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his
sister all of his blood in order to save her but he had chosen to save her anyway.

    =D

Well, I'm once again back. I find that the Saturday training really cannot make it, what I mean is the number of people that come and the time they come. Once again I say, reporting time would be 0930 - 1000 hours.

  • 1st thing would be try not to be late as timnig is already stated.

  • 2nd thing would be if you are not coming for the training, if possible give me a message or what, if not I don't know who to wait for and who not to wait for.

  • I would say Friday training is successfully complete although it is a rainy day. Congratz =D.

For another thing, please take a very good note that BBQ is on the 20th of Dec, please inform your parent or whoever needed A.S.A.P because we would like everyone to be there to have fun. =D

Last but not least, please take note that last 2 training we didn't do any collection, and that we might not be doing any collection, but there's still 12days before the BBQ, so if possible try to gather up to $15 and give it to Eunice before that day so that we had enough to go to buy our neccessary foods and stuffs.

Food wise would be something like last time. Something like that, if you got anything specially request, please give us a notice ASAP. =D

    I'm back here posting. =)

Well, a few annoucement or notice for you guys to take note.
    1. There will be a HongJing BBQ session on the 20th Dec 2008, timing is at about 6pm to any time you like. The price to pay would be 1 person $15, you can either pay to Xiaopang, Eunice or Liyong. Place is confirm, the same place as the previous BBQ outing, but if you don't know, you can ask.
    2. Okay, to ensure that everyone has the ability to pay the $15, we had decided that you can bring money to every training session you have during the next few weeks. $2, $5, $10, $15? Any amount that is suitable but don't make it too troublesome. So in this way, you doesn't need to at 1 time fork out $15 altogether and can't take out. [Sorry to say, we don't want people to pay 1st because that time Eunice had to pay a lot more extra.]
    3. Please take note that, since our jersey supplier is still pulling for time, and we had decided to stay with the same color, we got to wait abit longer for the jersey size to come, so please don't ask when is the jersey coming, because Eunice or JiaJun or BingYuan will be calling the supplier as and when to push him.
    4. Since holiday is coming even to those Poly students, I might be increasing the training to more then just 2 times per week before Coco come back.

Okay, annoucement ended, back to my talk.

Wanted to ask how is the training this 2 days? A day of almost pure Phyical Training followed by a day of pure Basic Training. (Excluding the punishment as it is really a cannot happen situation happening.)

I know you guys are tired from a day of Physical Training, and that you all had to wake up the next day early in the morning to come for another training. As I had say, the training time is set by you guys, you are able to choose again, so please try to make it to both training except due to some reason that you can be excuesed. If there are people who can make it for 2 days I don't believe why some of you cannot when your reason is you cannot wake up or just too tired.

So all in all, Please take note that I had decided to change the Saturday timing to 9.30Am(latest 10Am) to 12.30Pm or 1Pm(Latest 1.30Pm or 2Pm). So after this, please don't be late and/or give me excused.

I'm actually quite straight-forward in the way I talk, so I would say I scolded the team today. Since I don't know what word to use to take over the word 训话. Reason being that after 13 tries of free-throw, you all still can't pass the requirement. Maybe you find that the requirement to fulfilled is a lot, 75%, but go out and ask, how many of the team doesn't need to fulfilled that amount of requirement. Especially when there is no hard-training beforehand on the same day.

After this, Sean had told me that because of tireness from the day before and during the punishment, the people doesn't have the motivation to shoot in anymore. No doubt his right, but it all boils down to your own motivation, attitude and discipline. I will repeat myself again, you are the people who wanted to join the team, not me, neither Coco, we are just here to help, if you all doesn't even have the self-discipline to complete it, what do you expect us to do? Beside that, if for once you can just cleared it, do punishment even occurs? And 1 important note to take down, [Tired is not a reason, it is an excuse.] But this Sentence I'm only going to use it on the team when training, other then that, you can complain tired for all you want. =D Because I always complained tired too. =D

You all may be cursing me behind what I said from the above, because I didn't join in the training myself so I don't know how tired can the TIRED be, but comparing some people in the team, you can see it yourself I think. Sorry if my words is harsh. {After reading this, 1 oversea people will call back and tell me its not good to put this kind of things on top} But I really hope this time round all this will teach you something new, and really hope you can learn from it.

Done with my talk, so I will still post your statistic out, I would like to praise those that had improve, and those that didn't, continue to work hard. =D

    QinRong - 7/13
    Sean - 5/13
    Ashley - 6/13

    Further breakdown.

    Before punishment of 2 set. 4/8, 1/8
    After punishment of 5 set. 5/8, 3/8, 3/8, 1/8, 2/8
    After punishment of another 5 set. 3/8, 3/8, 2/8, 5/8, 4/8
After punishment of 1 set. 5/8 - Thanks to Eunice who shoot in the last ball making it 6/9 but since my requirement is only 6 balls, you passed. =D

Continue to jiayou for the up-coming training. Try to out break yourself and strive to become better. Up until the end, it's for you own good rather then mine. =D

And to Coco, the team's 2nd song would be the 1 you sing @ Kbox that time, 因为我相信.

    Back to my preaching. :D

Timing wise I don't think I need to state anymore, hope you all can be on time. I think we need to review on the Saturday training timing since quite a lot of you can't wake up on time, so is it good if I change it to 9.30Am? Or continue 8.30Am? Or 10Am. Tried to give me an answer through the tagboard or anything so that I know what time I can start. (Sound so professional, haha)

Okay, I'm going to say the same thing again, it's just a reminder, so don't worry. I really hope you all treat the training seriously, because you all are the people who wanted to create the team, not us. We are here just to help you, in terms of basketball stuff, so I really hope you guys could continue to train well. =D

Again, I find that your discipline is still not there, as I had stated, we didn't want to set any rule because 外队 should be fun and enjoyable, [cancel-ing away the training which is tiring] but utmost fun should be created through it. Not only that, it's something that you all can use to build up your friendship with one another. 有福同享,有难同当。=D

But from what we had on Friday, it shows that you all are not that discipline yet. From 7Pm to 930Pm we only had do a few things, that is warm-ing up and a running of 2 rounds and a right hand lay up plus jump shot, followed by a series of punishment. All this already took 2hr30mins, so in a way, it's going way too slow. Therefore I hope next week we could get everything work out, as in, when doing punishment or what, try to get ready fast, get prepared and start doing, this in turn will cut a lot of time wastage. Not only that, if can early end = matches for yourselves, so why not? Cannot be everytime you all wants to start your matches at 10+ right? =D

It's better on Saturday. :D I would say, at least you had complete more of the basic training programme. Although punishment is cut short so that things can move more smoothly. =D If Friday can be like Saturday would be good. =D I guess my preaching became shorter. =D

This time round I wouldn't praise anyone online due to some stuffs, but if you can hear me praising you during training would be good. =D

Anyway, I really hope to see improvement in all the things you require. Sorry to say, I hope that people won't be able to criticize you guys for not being like a team because for 1st timer who looks at your team, their 1st thought would be, is this how a team should be like? It sounds rough, but since I can hear it, so why not I state it out and let you all know.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Training Statistic, it may not be good to post it up here, but I would like you all to take a look at how the team is progressing. =D

    Friday Training

2 rounds of Limbang Park takes the whole team about 6mins and 30secs which has exceeded the given time of 5mins, So I hope to see improvement next week.

Wah, It's my turn to post.

1st and foremost, I would like to ask if this 2 training you guys find it fruitful or not, because it had being a long time before I started giving out matches in training since the training always start late and end late.

Starting from next week it might not be having 2 days of game together anymore, so you all can don't try asking me to give you matches again, since basic is still needed all in all.

Anyway I need to apologise for losing my cool when you all asking for matches through full court, because I find that it's easier to train the form up in a half court because you all can stay in position and learn about it rather then this person not back, that person not back.

On the left side of the profile i had added some information down again, so you can take a look at it, beside that, if you know your friends don't read this blog or anything, please tell them to do so or you could tell them about what I write.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, I would like to voice out, can I see more discipline in the team? I would said you all had improve already, be it skills or some other stuffs, but can I see the discipline in it also? What I mean as discipline is, coming down on the targetted time, making it an effort to be in all the trainings, and trying to attend the training if it's possible. If the situation allows, I will start my training on the latest timing i stated there to reach, whoever comes later can just train if you want to, if don't want to you can just go shoot around, If you know you will be late, do give me a message and tell me what's the reason 1st, and if possible I will start the training later for you. If you don't know my number you can ask around. And please, don't because I said that, you could just come late and join in any time you like.

I will repeat the timing now,
Every Friday - 6.30pm-7.15pm to reach - End latest 10pm.
Venue - If you are early, you can be at 514 watching or playing, if you are rushing for time, go to LBP straight, we are having training there. [If there are changes, you will be messaged.]
Every Saturday - 8.30am-930am to reach - End latest 1pm.
Venue - Be at 514 bball court, if the situation allow we will train there, if not we will find other training venues. [This timing is what you guys set, so if a lot of you complain tired and stuff, find another timing or day where everyone can make it. Do not give excuses.]
(If it's raining and you don't know if there is training or not, ask around, if the person didn't reply you fast enough, message another person. Or called.)

I had say before quite a long time ago, but since the members now are stable, I will just repeat myself again. Coco and I had say that studies are more important, and we allowed you to be excused for studies when the needs is there, but beside that, we had already put down our timing, so I hoped you could tell your families about this. You are the 1 who wanted to join the team, so you should MAKE the effort in attending trainings, and what I mean by attending is not person there only, I want you whole soul, body and mind to be there too. Sorry to say, having a basketball team outside of you own timing requires you to sacrifice some of your other timing. Do not give reasons like going out, or parents don't let and stuff like that. Your parents will never deprive you of your freedom since you all are at the teenagers age. We do not want to treat this team like a school team, so we didn't enforce any rules down, because this is a 外队, it should be fun and out-going.

It's best if you attend both training, but if you really cannot, at least attend 1 of it. Like Ashley, he attend a bit of the Friday training but since he cannot stay for late, he got to go. But at the very least, he attend the Saturday training to his fullest.

Attitude is another thing, I would say some of you had improve since previously, but I would like to see the whole team really had a good attitude up. Having the attitudes to train is better off you are just here trying to have fun. Also, do not criticise your teammates if they do wrongly, you can say but you do not need to criticise them, instead, encourage them, tell them what they had do wrong, and ask them to improve on it.

A team aren't created by 1 person, it's created through everyone inside it.

    Done with my preaching

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the 5on5 half court for the last 2 training, I would like to praise some of you.

JiaJun - At last you show me the captain command. You gave command on your team, getting them organize, this is good. Keep it up.
YongChang - You showed me that you had improve abit on the under basket after that 3on3 YOG competition, I don't know if it's because there are more people beside you and thus em-powering you, but continue to improve.
James - At least in this kind of game you didn't show me your anyhow playing style, at least you can be focus on the game.

I will be posting on your statistic, but it isn't much since we didn't do much basic since I'm training on defend.
